Rancho Mission Viejo Visitor Center

The design project topic was an observation facility located in a protected nature preserve. The facility is intended to be used mostly as a by lookout for scientist, sand it will occasionally entertain hikers.

Based on the given topics from our instructor, we began our project with several mini analog design exercises that generate various design alternatives. New building design elements were sequentially explored for design potential, always with the constraint of "technical' accuracy, eg. a stair must work, a ramp is ADA compliant, the skin of the building achieves closure, a roof drains water. To sum up, this design project is a comprehensive exercise, which we had to coordinate with our structure and construction instructors to achieve a realistic outcome.
